Growing Conditions

The vineyards are located in the Oak Knoll District Appellation, Napa Valley, which has the warmth of the valley yet also enjoys the cool breezes of the San Francisco Bay, providing beautiful acidity- the ingredients of a great food wine. The Petit Verdot is grown on our O’Connell Family Estate Vineyard next to our lavender field-, which imparts an exotic note to the aromas.

The 2009 vintage had smaller yields, but very concentrated fruit that delivered a fruit forward style wine with rich fruitiness and plenty of tannins for aging.. It had a dramatic growing season, with damaging vineyard buds and heat spikes during bloom in May and in August. It delivered a very small crop due to these extremes but had exceptional quality.
