Palate

A silky food wine has firm acidity, a moderate alcohol level and the oak and approachable tannins are balanced. A bold Cabernet Sauvignon with deep notes of black current, brambles, tobacco and Syrah’s attributes of leather, bacon and spice.

Growing Conditions

The O’Connell Family Estate Vineyard is in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley, that benefits from the cool down effect of late morning fog from the San Francisco Bay. The result is crisp acidity. The warm daytime temperatures slowly ripen the fruit for layers of red fruit deliciousness.

The 2008 vintage was a bold vintage with intensity and full body- perfect for Juxtaposition. It had a dramatic growing season, with damaging vineyard buds and heat spikes during bloom in May and in August. It delivered a very small crop due to these extremes but had exceptional quality. The vintage produced wines that are very rich and full-bodied and well-balanced, with plenty of tannins for aging.
