Nose
A lively, bright nose with hints of
blackberry, floral cherry, and pipe tobacco.
Palate
On
the palate the wine has an incredible brightness,
bursting forth with cherry, dried cranberries
and well-integrated oak. Traces of rose petal
and tea leaves compliment the velvety tannins.
Plush and juicy, the 2011 is well-balanced and
begs to be enjoyed now.
Growing Conditions
Similar to the 2009 and 2010 seasons, the 2011 growing season was characterized by a mild winter with average
rainfall, followed by an extended cool spring. Heavy rain in the spring led to reduced vine canopy growth and lower
fruit yields.
The summer stayed cool and remained cool for most of the growing season. At Revana, we thinned the vine canopies
and thinned the grape crop to compensate for the cool season.
Harvest
The cool weather delayed veraison and maturation resulting in a late harvest. In anticipation of the late harvest, our
vineyard team increased leaf and lateral shoot removal. These late season passes allowed us to take advantage of
what proved to be a long cool finish to the season. While the harvest was nearly 50% lower than average, the wine
quality is phenomenal.
Aging
20 months in 80% new
French oak then aged
12 months in bottle.

Deep garnet in the glass.
