Nose

The 2013 Field Blend is intensely brambly and redolent
of dark berries on the nose.

Palate

The palate shows currant and blackberry, with a hint
of caramelized sugar and a warm mineral character. Its generous acidity gives
the wine a very juicy center, with lengthy and pleasing tannins. Field Blend offers
consumers an affordable, food-friendly red wine that’s deliciously drinkable on
release, but one that will age comfortably in the cellar for several years.

Growing Conditions

Oakville Ranch is the original mountain vineyard of the Oakville sub-appellation,
a tiny district that produces some of Napa Valley’s most celebrated Cabernets.
A place of dramatic beauty and dedication to organic farming, Oakville Ranch
farms its hollows and terraces in a well-planned program of sustainability, and has
crafted singular wines expressive of its distinctive terroir since 1989.

In the tradition of Napa Valley’s early grape growers, the varietals for Oakville
Ranch Field Blend are grown on a single Oakville hillside vineyard block, then
harvested and fermented together, producing a lively, fruit-driven wine that’s
perfect for everyday consumption. A blend of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, the Field
Blend reflects the characteristics of the vintage, with the impact of each grape
variety varying by the year, but always creating a balanced wine.
