Nose

The 2016 Chardonnay is an exceptional wine, seamlessly weaving the aromas of nectarine and peach with notes of cardamom and almond.

Palate

On the palate, the same flavors of juicy summer fruit and apricot toast are touched with creamy nougat from a hint of oak. The finish is mouthwatering, refreshing and persistent.

Growing Conditions

Oakville Ranch is the original mountain vineyard of the Oakville sub-appellation, a tiny district that produces some of Napa Valley’s most celebrated Cabernets. A place of dramatic beauty and dedication to organic farming, Oakville Ranch farms its hollows and terraces in a well-planned program of sustainability, and has crafted singular wines expressive of its distinctive terroir since 1989.

The 2016 vintage was near perfect, as Napa Valley began to ease out of a prolonged drought and thirsty vines recovered, yielding a moderate size crop. The growing season avoided the extremes of both frost and high heat, allowing smooth and even ripening, ideal for optimum flavor development. The ideal growing season especially favored the 2016 Chardonnay, where each of the three Bobcat block clones brought a distinct flavor and expressive aroma to the harmonious blend.
