Palate
Juicy blackberry, raspberry and cranberry are backed with citrus hints of mandarin
orange. Petite Sirah adds the warmth of baking spices and bayberry, resulting in
a wine that is rich, balanced and complex, with a persistent and generous finish.
Field Blend offers consumers an affordable, food-friendly red wine that’s deliciously
drinkable on release, but one that will age comfortably in the cellar for several years.
Growing Conditions
Oakville Ranch is the original mountain vineyard of the Oakville sub-appellation,
a tiny district that produces some of Napa Valley’s most celebrated Cabernets.
A place of dramatic beauty and dedication to organic farming, Oakville Ranch
farms its hollows and terraces in a well-planned program of sustainability, and has
crafted singular wines expressive of its distinctive terroir since 1989.
The grapes for Field Blend are grown, harvested and fermented together in the
tradition of Napa Valley’s early grape growers, reflecting the characteristics of the
vintage. The third consecutive year of drought, the 2014 growing season was blessed
with relatively mild growing temperatures, which favored a well-balanced crop, even
ripening and concentrated flavors, creating a balanced, fruit-driven wine.
