Palate

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin’ can be a real cool hand’ sets the tone for Paul Newman’s portrayal of Cool Hand Luke in a film about the power of the individual to rise above the expectations of the herd. The 2012 Lokoya Spring Mountain is our Cool Hand Luke, as it is truly an individual in the Lokoya lineup. Cassis, boysenberry, rose petal aromatic, fine tannins, sweet vanillin and a touch of toast all guarantee no failure to communicate.

Growing Conditions

The appellation lies above the town of St. Helena, on the eastern slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains that separate Napa Valley from Sonoma Valley and the Santa Rosa Plain. Spring Mountain is similar to the Mount Veeder appellation due to the prevailing cool weather and small diurnal changes. The vineyard is located at 1,600 feet of elevation with primarily weathered volcanic soils and high drainage. The mountain terrain, along with its cool weather pattern, creates an environment for Cabernet Sauvignon with intense dark fruit flavors, satiny tannins and great aging potential.
