Nose

Complex array of aromas including black cherry, rhubarb, milk chocolate and subtle notes of Rutherford dust envelop the senses.

Palate

Showing its youthful prime, it delivers a rugged and masculine texture that lingers with an earthy pleasure.

Growing Conditions

The growing season was the coolest in memory, although some fruit was lost during two intense heat spikes in August. Temperatures dropped again; a mild Indian summer prompted seeds to ripen 2-3° Brix earlier than in warmer vintages, and forced a later, shortened harvest with lower yields. Flavors and tannins matured at these sugar levels, too, allowing wines with lower alcohol that showcase the concentration, complexity and balance of a long, cool season.

Appearance

Vibrant dark ruby.
