Nose

This wine comes from a single vineyard, but we thought what made this wine interesting and unique is the clonal material of this fruit. The expression of this clone in our version shows mixed berries and an alluring sage/bay leaf undercurrent on the nose.

Palate

The wine has good length and will develop and mature in the bottle for the next 5+ years.

Winemaking

The Coury clone is named for Charles Coury, who brought this clone to Carneros over 50 years ago. Charles Coury identified Carneros as one of the pre-eminent cool-climate wine regions in the world and we pay homage to him using his namesake clone. Handpicked in early September, these grapes were carefully sorted upon arriving at the winery, then cold soaked before undergoing an extended fermentation to bring out the grapes’ full depth of flavor. Using 36% new French oak, the wine spent 20 months in barrel before bottling; racked twice, 9 months on primary lees and 11 months on light lees.
