Nose

The Coury Clone begins with earthy aromas of spice, bay leaf and red fruit.

Palate

The entry is broad, opening to a generous mid-palate framed with moderate acidity and flavors of cherry, citrus and strawberry. The wine has good length and will develop and mature in the bottle for the next 5+ years.

Growing Conditions

The Coury clone is named for Charles Coury, who brought this clone to Carneros over 50 years ago. Charles Coury identified Carneros as one of the preeminent cool-climate wine regions in the world and we pay homage to him using his namesake clone.

Winemaking

Handpicked in early September, these grapes were carefully sorted upon arriving at the winery before undergoing an extended fermentation to bring out the grapes’ full depth of flavor.

Aging

Using 40% new French oak, the wine spent 21 months in barrel before bottling.
