Palate
The aromas and flavors speak of pear, leeche and citrus. It has a crisp structure with a round and juicy mouthfeel that makes the wine inviting. Drinkable Now. Age worthy for 8+ years from Vintage date.
Growing Conditions
A luscious expression of the Oak Knoll District of Nap Valley Appellation terroir: with temperatures cooler than upper Napa Valley, it gets the best of all attributes- enough heat to ripen the fruit to express lovely fruit and citrus flavors; cool enough to maintain acidity. The vineyard is a neighbor of the O’Connell Family Estate Vineyard and in close proximity to the famous Chateau Montelena Vineyard that won the Paris tasting in 1976. We consider this strip of land to produce some of the best Chardonnays in Napa Valley.
Winemaking
Produced with the classic French formula- only 30% of the wine touches oak, to give body. Only 30% goes though malolactic fermentation- the process to provide the buttery flavors and makes the wine smooth and creamy. The end result… the oak does not dominate but is the structure within which the wine expresses its varietal characteristics and terroir. A delicious food and sipping wine
Aging
33% in new French Oak Barrels and 66% in once used French Oak Barrels. Medium toast.
Food Pairing
Serve with poultry, steamed or sautéed fish, roasted pork, soft cheeses and olive oil roasted vegetables. Great to just sip!
