Nose

Aromatics including ripe cherry fruit, cola, and sweet oak mix with earth and leather.

Palate

Classic Cabernet flavors of cherry, cassis, cocoa and spice are a big part of this complex, layered wine. A bright acidity plays off the flavors before the rich tannins add to the lingering finish. It's those attributes that make this a very delicious wine now but also show a youthfulness that hints at a long life of improvement with cellaring.

Growing Conditions

The vintage was one of the more evenly balanced growing years we have seen with no harsh extremes creating challenges in the vineyard or for the winemaking team. We harvested our Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon in early November after a few light storms threatened the later ripening fruit. The result is a very dark, densely colored wine, rich in aromatics and intensely flavored. This is a lovely Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon showing great varietal character, with very balanced acid and tannin, accompanying its complex mountain terroir.
