Palate

This intensity has the effect on the 2009 Mount Veeder of concentrated blue fruits, chewable tannins, and a mild coffee roast that carries the flavor on your palate far after you have swallowed the wine.

Growing Conditions

1,800 ft. vineyard elevation. Walking our vineyard during harvest on Mount Veeder in the early morning hours, you are struck by an abundance of sun. This is different from other parts of the valley and, for that matter, from our vineyard at other times of the day. You look across a great lake of fog below you and up to an azure sky and realize that what defines Mount Veeder is an intensity of light.

Harvest

hand-harvested, low yields of 2 tons per acre.

Bottling

bottled unfined and unfiltered

Aging

22 months in 100% new French oak
