Palate
Imagine the thrill and excitement as you throttle the engine of an F-14 Tomcat - right before you launch yourself off the deck of an aircraft carrier. With this sensation in mind you can envision tasting the 2010 Lokoya Mount Veeder with its jet engine of structure, blueberry jam, minerality and violets. That is a wine that is sure to take you to Mach-5 in no time.
Growing Conditions
Located on the western ridges of the Mayacamas Range within the Mount Veeder appellation, Veeder Peak Vineyard sits at a lofty elevation of 1,800 feet. Since 1995, Lokoya has fashioned an elegant Cabernet Sauvignon from a small block on our estate vineyard. Though morning sun tempers the climate on Mount Veeder, shallow soil profiles combined with a low concentration of minerals and nutrients challenge the vitality of the Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Struggling in this mountainous volcanic terrain forces the vines to seek out nutrients and in turn produce berries with intensely concentrated fruit.
