Nose

Extremely aromatic, the wine features fresh pomegranate and red raspberry, warm oak, and cinnamon.

Palate

The palate presents exuberant flavors of red raspberry, along with notes of black cherry, and a subtle suggestion of tobacco leaf.

Growing Conditions

The fruit for this wine is sourced from all six Domaine Carneros vineyards in the rolling hills of Carneros. This blend exhibits the most fragrant characteristics present in select lots from these vineyards.

Harvest

The 2020 vintage is defined by low yields and concentrated, complex fruit. Early spring frosts and rain during May fruit set limited the number of berries per cluster. Summer drought kept berries small while optimal temperatures throughout July and August ripened them beautifully. Harvest commenced on August 3rd and was one of the fastest in recent memory. All grapes destined for our sparkling wine were picked within 3 weeks and by September 17th, our 34th harvest was complete.

Winemaking

This wine is fermented in small open-topped tanks and then aged for ten months in Burgundian French oak barrels from cooperages that are specially selected to complement the aroma and flavor profile of this wine.

Food Pairing

Fresh and lively, this pinot noir delivers a core of bright sweet fruit and supple tannin that invites pairing with simply prepared dishes such as grilled salmon, chicken, or pork and will also enhance the vibrant flavors of California and Mediterranean cuisine.
