Nose
Floral aromatics of honeysuckle, jasmine, white blossom, pineapple mint; meyer lemon, verbena, mandarin and tangerine, pink lady apple.
Palate
Simple, pleasing texture in mouth, with lively acid that hits up front and is followed behind by fuji apple and asian pear flavors.
Growing Conditions
Soil types by vineyard consist of: Cloud Landing = Diablo Clay; Carneros Hills West = Haire Clay Loam. Both vineyards are located in Carneros AVA.
Harvest
The 2016 growing season started with winter and spring rains that were near normal, compared to the drought conditions of 2012-2015. The warm and dry summer contributed to an early start to harvest. The yields coming out of this vintage were, for the most part, normal- compared to the massive decrease we saw in 2015.
Winemaking
This wine sees foot tread in macro bins before going direct to press in whole clusters. It is then pressed to tank, settled overnight, and barreled down. Natural fermentation (primary and MLF) in take place in barrel. No stirring. The wine is aged on lees for 8 months, and then in stainless steel tanks for 2 months.
Aging
95% neutral French oak5% neutral American oak.
Appearance
Light golden yellow.
