Pomegranate, black cherry, cinnamon, clove and violets.

Moderate tannin that greets you at the front of your palate, followed by bright acidity; flavors of raspberry, black cherry and vanilla.

Growing Conditions

The ‘En Haut’ portion of the Kiser vineyard is a mix of clones 114, 777 and 667. Planted in 2000 the Kiser ‘En Haut’ portion of the vineyard has rows of vines that run North-South, with the slope of the hill facing South.

Harvest

Harvested September 9-11, 2013. The 2013 vintage offered a variety of conditions. A rather dry January gave way to normal winter rainfall. As warmer weather arrived, bud break occurred in early April. Following a moderate summer, the first week of September brought very warm weather, along with a corresponding rise in sugar and malic acid levels. We picked our fruit as quickly as possible. Our 2013 wines display appealing texture and suppleness due to marginally higher pH levels.

Winemaking

50% whole cluster fermentation, pressed then racked to barrels; native fermentations (alcohol malolactic)
