Palate

Cabernet Franc's flavor profile is that it is fruitier and more herbal than Cabernet Sauvignon, though lighter in both color and tannins. This excellent 2014 Alexander Valley is very delightfully soft and easy to drink, with spicy aromas and flavors reminiscent of plums and violets.

Growing Conditions

Though usually a key ingredient in varietally-blended reds wines such as French Bordeaux or California Meritage, Cabernet Franc can be a very good stand-alone bottling when well-made like this one. Its vines bear thinner-skinned, earlier-ripening grapes with lower overall acidity.
