Nose

Complexity on the nose ranging from dark berries, bramble and a slight refreshing herbal component.

Palate

This wine shows the full potential of Stanly Ranch Pinot Noir, where we are able to control all aspects from vine to bottle. Made exclusively from Dijon Clone 667 (Blocks 1B and 1E) which expresses itself with complexity on the nose ranging from dark berries, bramble and a slight refreshing herbal component along with richness and elegance on the palate. Native primary and secondary fermentation as well as a minimalist winemaking philosophy are used to demonstrate and highlight the fruit and the site of the Starmont Stanly Ranch Pinot Noir.

Winemaking

Handpicked from our Stanly Ranch Estate in Carneros, these grapes were carefully sorted and crushed, using only free-run juice to create the blend. Use of open top fermenters, native yeast fermentation, and tight grain French oak barrels play to the aspects of this vineyard site resulting in concentrated fruit, and wines with intensity and focus. Careful attention is taken to match oak and toast to the vineyard and wine traits—restrained to push the fruit’s character forward and respect the vineyard site. Using 55% new French oak (27% once used, 18% twice used), the wine spent 20 months in barrel before bottling.
