Nose

Tons of spicy floral mineral lift.

Palate

A dense, rich mid-palate framed by beautifully ripe tannin.

Growing Conditions

We have always been fascinated by Cabernet Franc’s ability to make wines with the density, richness and power of Cabernet Sauvignon, while providing better balance, more lift and greater complexity. However, the sites that can do this are rare and hard to find, so when we were offered Franc from one of the best blocks at Stagecoach Vineyard, perched on a west-facing slope above the famous Oakville sites in the eastern hills, we jumped at the chance.

Stagecoach provides 60% of the blend, while Franc from the gravelly soils of Frediani Vineyard in Calistoga and black, spicy Malbec from Larkmead District make up the balance.

Appearance

A nearly black color.
