The inaugural 2013 vintage of our Small Lot Malbec opens
with bright fruit aromas of pomegranate and boysenberry
This dense, juicy wine is
made in a Bordeaux style, with flavors of mulberry, coriander,
black pepper and a touch of oak.
The 2013 vintage in Napa Valley was one of the earliest
harvested vintages in years. A warm spring led to early bud
break and created the perfect environment for flowering and
fruit set. With warm days and cool nights, our team was able
to maintain ideal acid levels with optimum, bright fruit
flavors.
Our Small Lot Collection Malbec grapes come from two
vineyards, one in the center of Yountville whose wetter soils
next to the Napa River allow the texture of the Malbec
grapes so shine. The other vineyard in the North East corner
of Napa is nestled in a secluded valley where the heat brings
out the fruit and spice of Malbec.
Fermentation took place
for 19-21 total days on the skins.
This Malbec is 100%
barrel-aged for 20 months in Demptos, Leroi, and Saury
French Oak barrels, 20% new.
Big and luxuriant in the
glass, our 2013 Malbec is a wine to be enjoyed with a variety
of hearty dishes.
