Nose
Aromas of raspberry, cherry and a
hint of anise.
Palate
Flavors of strawberry and
blueberry. Medium bodied and well-balanced, the
velvety mouthfeel culminates with a lengthy, satisfying
finish.
Growing Conditions
The 2016 vintage across California was a nearperfect
growing season. A mild winter and spring
led to a steady mild July and August, followed by
warm days at the end of the season for the perfect
ripeness. With warm days and cool nights in the
summer, grape growers were able to maintain ideal
acid levels with balanced, concentrated fruit flavors.
Winemaking
The R Collection Field Blend harkens back to the early
days in California viticulture when vineyards had several
different varietals planted together, and an entire
vineyard would be harvested and vinified together,
often producing remarkably unique wines from
multiple varietals.
Our winemaking team has revived this tradition of
blending multiple varietals together to produce a
standout wine. The 2016 R Collection Field Blend
elegantly brings together 5 core varietals: Cabernet
Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Petite Verdot and
Merlot for a wine that is layered and complex.
