Nose
Ruggedly intense, yet elegantly balanced, this wine
boasts a complex and impressive bouquet that bursts wtih deep black cherry and
blackcurrant syrup aromas, draped with touches of sweet vanilla toast, ripe black olive,
bresaola and subtle mint leaf.
Palate
The well-rounded palate is supported by robust tannins
and teems with blackberry tart and red plum flavors, fading gracefully into hints of
creamy milk chocolate, red licorice and graham cracker that linger through the dense,
unrelenting finish.
Growing Conditions
The mild 2011 vintage allowed for a long hang
time, resulting in evenly ripe, complex flavors in the berries.
Harvest
The fruit for this wine was
harvested at an optimal level of ripeness in late October.
Winemaking
Fermentation took place at a
high temperature to ensure that maximum extraction was achieved.
Aging
The wine
was racked to 60% new French oak barrels. The wine was aged in barrel for a total of 18
months before bottling.
