Petit Verdot is often a component of Bordeaux-style blends, but is less often offered as a single-variety wine. Our Stags Leap District estate vineyards produce Petit Verdot fruit of such exceptional quality that some vintages simply demand to be bottled.
For more than 20 years, Pine Ridge Vineyards has produced a white wine blend containing Chenin Blanc—a crisp white variety that originated in France’s Loire Valley. Our winemaking team has created a very limited-production lot to showcase this elegant variety, grown in the Clarksburg appellation, home to California’s premier Chenin Blanc grapes. Chenin Blanc grapes have high acidity and need plenty of sun to ripen and produce delicious fruit flavors. Cool Delta breezes and warm summer days in Clarksburg contribute to a long, dry growing season with a slow and even rate of fruit maturity, leading to an optimal balance of sugar and acid and an outstanding intensity of fruit flavors.
The Oakville appellation spans the Napa Valley from the Vaca Mountains in the east to the Mayacamas in the west. Within this storied terroir, our 25-acre Dos Olivos Vineyard—so named for the two stately olive trees that guard its entrance—has moderate temperatures and well-drained gravel and clay soils that yield Cabernet Sauvignon of exceptional structure and balance. In conjunction with our attentive farming practices, the terroir creates ideal conditions for the production of deeply fruited and well-extracted Cabernet Sauvignons.
