Growing Conditions

Winemaker Jay Buoncristiani personally selected the clones and the exact rows to harvest from two of Erhen Jordan’s vineyards in Sonoma’s Russian River Valley. He was particularly excited to craft a wine for this new Pinot project since it is only his second time being involved with the finicky variety (the other project was based out of Anderson Valley). Jay attributes the high quality results to many factors including the handling of the fruit time on the skins oak barrel regime and aging process. However for this wine one of the most important factors for the resulting profile and quality was the combination of choices made in the vineyards as harvest approached driven by how the flavors of the sites’ clonal diversity progressed during ripening. Jay says this is a Pinot Noir that is not to miss by both fans and non-fans of the variety!
