Nose
Displaying dark cherry, cassis and fresh raspberry, with layers of cedar,
clove, leather and black pepper.
Palate
A fruit-forward wine with a juicy center, it
opens with fresh fruits and finishes with coffee, tobacco and dark chocolate
notes. The tannins are tight, fine-grained and supple, with a velvety middle and
a long finish freshened with acidity.
Growing Conditions
Oakville Ranch is the original mountain vineyard of the Oakville sub-appellation,
a tiny district that produces some of Napa Valley’s most celebrated Cabernets.
A place of dramatic beauty and dedication to organic farming, Oakville Ranch
farms its hollows and terraces in a well-planned program of sustainability, and
has crafted singular wines expressive of its distinctive terroir since 1989.
The Oakville district is home to some of Napa Valley’s most renowned Cabernets
and the mountain vineyards of Oakville Ranch yield grapes with the deep
cassis and classic berry flavors characteristic of the Ranch’s red volcanic soil. The 2012 Cabernet is a perfect expression of an excellent vintage in the Napa
