Nose

Our 2008 is deep and dark with high-toned notes of cedar, anise, black earth, and black fruit.

Palate

The palate
is thick with long-gripping tannins that melt into the background. This is a great example of a wine
that is both full flavored and graceful.

Growing Conditions

Founded in 2005, Altvs produces small quantities of handmade Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
We source fruit from a number of serious growers with hillside and bench-land vineyards located along
the eastern side of Napa Valley. Our style emphasizes balance, fruit purity and intensity.

Overall, 2008 was a low-yielding, high-quality year. A wet winter and extremely dry spring accelerated
bud break. Unfortunately, the month of April had a record number of frost events with more than
twenty days below 30˚F. The eastern side of Napa, where we get our fruit, was hit especially hard
severely reducing the crop.
Heat during flowering and set led to fewer clusters with smaller berries. In spite of this, the vines were
still healthy with little to no pest or mold infestation.

Bottling

Altvs is bottled unfiltered

Winemaking

We began crush on October 17th and finished on
the 31st of October. It was a compact harvest that produced clusters of fully ripe, flavorful berries.
