Nose
This 2014 is a singularly delicious bottle
of wine with deep dark fruit aromas that lure you into the glass.
Palate
It
opens up to reveal classic black currant and berry syrup aromas.
The tannin, acid, and alcohol are in such balance that wine feels
sweet, though it is bone dry
Growing Conditions
Founded in 2005, Altvs produces small quantities of handmade Napa Valley
Cabernet Sauvignon. We source fruit from a handful of serious growers with
hillside and bench land vineyards up and down Napa Valley. Our style
emphasizes balance, fruit purity and intensity. The Altvs wines come from selecting barrels that showcase fruit and
pure varietal character that is more feminine than masculine within
the context of the vintage.
Vintage 2014 was about as perfect as it can get. The fruit ripened in linear
fashion without the usual heat spells that can cause dehydration. The yields
were just under average, the berries small, and acids high. Vintage 2014
combines the fruit intensity of the 2012s with the perfume and grace of the
2013s. 80% of the fruit for this wine was sourced form Bennett Vineyard in
Coombsville, 20% from Darms Lane Oak Knoll.
Harvest
The fruit was harvested from September 29 – November 2, 2014.
Bottling
Altvs is bottled unfiltered.
Aging
2 years in 80% new French Oak.
