Nose
Fresh aromas of grapefruit, lime, mandarin and
melon.
Palate
A sip brings a sweet beginning and a tartness to the mid-palate balanced with
good acidity and weight. Pronounced flavors of citrus and stone fruit mix with subtle
hints of spice. The finish is clean and refreshing, long in length with mineral notes.
This wine will continue to develop for two years from vintage.
Growing Conditions
Sourced from different regions in the valley, this wine comes together to showcase
the unique varietal expression that is Napa Sauvignon Blanc. With the South Napa earthquake and ongoing drought making it a unique agricultural
landscape, vintners are using words like “quality”, “depth of flavor” and “excellent”
to describe expectations for the 2014 vintage in Napa Valley. Despite the curveballs
from Mother Nature, the weather was generally perfect at the right times, leading to
an abundant and strong crop.
Harvest
Harvest started and ended earlier than usual. The first
grapes were picked on July 30th and nearly all harvest activity was completed by the
third week of October, a full two weeks ahead of normal harvest schedule for most
wineries.
Winemaking
To add depth and
mid-palate weight, the Sauvignon Blanc is blended with 10% Semillon. During
fermentation, using 50% native yeasts, the wine is held in neutral oak barrels to
provide body and texture, round out the palate as well as add complexity to the
flavors and aromatics
Appearance
Seen as a pale yellow in the glass.
