Nose

Complex aromas of black
cherry, earth, graham cracker, and cassis.

Palate

On the palate, it is soft with resolved tannins to balance a
nice acidic backbone. The wine has a lingering finish of red cherry and spice.

Growing Conditions

Sourced from vineyards throughout the Carneros appellation, including our Estate Vineyard on the
historic Stanly Ranch. All indications are that the 2012 vintage will be a memorable one, thanks to a classic growing
season which gave us excellent quality as well as generous yields in all varieties. The extended growing season in 2012 was ideal for flavor and tannin development and
retaining acidity.

Vineyards: Amaral, Mitsuko, Saintsbury, Huichica Hills, and
Merryvale Stanly Ranch Estate

Harvest

Harvest ran at a
moderate pace until the middle of October, but ramped up through the end of the month requiring
long days and nights in the field and on the crush pad in order to bring everything in at optimal
maturity.

Winemaking

This wine is a blend of our favorite Pinot Noir clones, including: Dijon 114,
115, 667, 777, and 828, along with Pommard & Swan. The Dijon clones bring good color, bright
focused fruit, and concentration. The Pommard and Swan clones bring mid-palate depth and
nuanced complexity, along with great texture and minerality. 14 days on the skins with a 5 day cold soak.
Gently punched down and pumped over. Native primary and malolactic fermentations

Aging

12 months in French oak (20% new)

Appearance

Dark ruby red in color with some violet notes and medium density.
