Nose

Plum, blueberry, mandarin orange, pine resin, pie cherry, smoke and vanilla bean all combine for a very complex array of aromas.

Palate

The palate is lively, managing to be simultaneously structured and weightless. This wine will age for a decade and beyond. Decant in its youth.

Growing Conditions

Vineyard Designation: Stanton, Hossfeld, Sugarloaf

Harvest

The fruit for our Cabernet Franc was handpicked in the early morning hours to preserve freshness and skin integrity.

Bottling

Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Winemaking

The grapes went through a multiple sorting process at our historic winery in St. Helena before being gravity fed into small fermenters. The juice spent an average of 22 days on the skins for additional color and extraction, and both primary and malolactic fermentations were with native yeast. Extended skin contact, both pre- and post-fermentation maximizes extraction of flavor, color, and aromas.

Aging

The wine was aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak barrels with minimal racking.
