Palate
Rich in limestone, the resultant wine is dense, polished, round and elegant with aromas of dark fruit, black pepper, cedar and spice. This wine is all about finesse and length, finishing with long lasting aromas of berries and spice.
Growing Conditions
The Paderewski vineyard is named after Ignacy Jan Paderewski who was renowned as the most famous and popular pianist in the early 1900s. He purchased 2000 acres in Paso Robles in 1913. The vineyard is a patchwork of undulating, steep, limestone hillsides five miles west of Paso Robles. The soils are very un-California like –calcareous and extreme. We meticulously select blocks with varying exposure with Block 13 having eastern exposure and Blocks 4 and 19 having western exposure. The wine reflects the high pH soils expressing purity, finesse and length.

This wine marks the first Syrah ever to be produced by Melka Wines. After searching for a vineyard that meets the high standards needed to produce a Syrah of diistinction, the Paderewski Vineyard was selected.
