Nose

The nose is a complex blend of floral and fruity notes accompanied by subtler notes of
cocoa powder, milk chocolate and pleasing minerality.

Palate

The personality of the fruit begins with bright red fruits (plum, pomegranate and raspberry), but darkens on the palate to include concentrated black cherries and blackberries. For Sangiovese, the entry is surprisingly broad and weighty. Its ample fullness and texture are supported by beautiful structure from well-integrated acidity. This vibrant and varietally-true acidity gives the wine mouthwatering persistence through the silky and coating finish

Growing Conditions

The 2013 vintage was a superb vintage. The unusually long season, moderate
temperatures without a major heat spike, and lack of rains made for one of the best
vintages in recent memory. An early spring bud break allowed our vineyards to get a two week head start on the vintage, and the lack of frost meant that yields were excellent while the longer growing season allowed for full ripeness. The wines from this vintage will be outstanding in quality.

"Long Meadow Ranch's 2013 Mayacamas Estate Sangiovese is a pure expression of the
beauty of the variety. The grapes were estate grown on an appropriately exposed
mountain block which received the right amount of light and ripening time before harvest.
