Nose

Aromas of black raspberries, cassis, with a touch of “dusty earth.” The fruity notes are joined by aromatic hints of mint, licorice, and white pepper.

Palate

A full flavored and big bodied wine with excellent depth and structure. Silky tannins provide for a long and pleasant finish.

Growing Conditions

2009 was a near perfect growing season for Cabernet Sauvignon. The year began with mild and dry weather that turned very wet and cool in February. By May spring had arrived and vines set a slightly lighter than average crop. The summer was without rain but the winter storms had provided plenty of water to carry the vines until harvest. The vineyards were picked in late September and early October with the majority of the fruit coming from our Estate Vineyard in the southern Sonoma Valley

Bottling

Bottled May 2012.

Winemaking

After two and a half weeks of fermentation on the skins, the young wine was gently pressed and allowed to settle for five weeks before being placed into small oak barrels. Following bottling, the wine was aged an additional 18 months so it would be at the peak of flavor upon release.

Aging

26 months in French and American oak barrels.
