Nose

Ripe fruit aromas of cherries and blackberry preserves, spicy notes of nutmeg, vanilla and cloves.

Palate

Full-bodied with a rich mouthfeel and smooth tannins.

Growing Conditions

This classically styled Pinot Noir was made from vineyards located in Sonoma County’s celebrated Russian River Valley appellation. The Russian River empties into the Pacific Ocean and serves as a channel for the cool ocean fog to move inland from the coast. The soil combined with the ocean’s cooling influence creates ideal conditions for growing Pinot Noir.

The vintage of 2015 had a lighter crop and a relatively dry winter which gave way to an early spring. The mild temperatures in the summer allowed the fruit to have lots of “hang time” on the vine. Warm weather in September concentrated the grapes making for intensely flavored fruit with rich color and body. Picked at the peak of flavor in late September and early October.

Bottling

Before bottling, a small amount of Syrah was added to the final blend to enhance the wine’s complexity and finish.

Aging

12 months in 1 to 3 year old French oak barrels.

Food Pairing

Maple Glazed Chicken Breasts with Mustard Jus, Grilled Salmon with Teriyaki Shitake, Fennel-Garlic Pork Roast.
