Nose
Floral aroma of jasmine, with grapefruit, peach, apricot, pineapple guava, passion fruit, papaya and toast.
Palate
The flavor is punctuated with ripe white peach, banana and guava… very pleasant and full with great viscosity and balance. The Freemark Abbey Viognier is a refreshing wine that yields both complexity and a pleasurable lingering experience.
Growing Conditions
Abundant winter rains helped refresh the groundwater and our reservoirs after several years of drought. The vines responded to the moisture with abundant growth. The summer had a few heat spells, during which we employed shade cloths, water and canopy management, to preserve the fruit. The harvest was warm and came a bit early with slightly below average yields.
