Nose

The nose of the 2015 Fortress Cabernet Sauvignon opens with notes of blackberry, forest fruits and warm vanilla.

Palate

The palate is met with flavors of brambleberry, mocha, baking and savory spices. The tannins are well integrated and create a mouthfeel that is well structured yet creamy and silky.

Growing Conditions

2015 was a year of small volume but supreme quality. Some rain during the spring led to a light crop but the growing season was sunny and warm, leading to lovely fruit development with big tannins. It was a particularly warm fall, so harvest occurred a bit earlier than normal and finished earlier than normal. This allowed winemakers to have all the fruit in before any threat of rain and the wines developed well through fermentation and barrel aging. We are excited about the quality of these wines and their ability to age well.

Aging

24 months in French and American oak, 28% new

Food Pairing

It is an approachable wine that is lovely on its own or well paired with a variety of hearty dishes.
