Nose

This inaugural vintage of Fortress Knights Valley Reserve is an expressive wine, opening with aromas of espresso, blackberry, and baking spice.

Palate

The palate is broad and supple, exhibiting flavors of mocha, forest fruits, and vanilla bean. The tannins are rich and well integrated creating a silky mouthfeel with a lingering finish.

Growing Conditions

Sonoma County saw a near perfect growing season in 2013. Temperatures were warm and moderate, without any significant heat spikes, allowing the vines to mature fully and achieve peak ripeness. The fruit shows great depth of character while retaining a well-balanced acidity.
