Nose

On the nose, this deeply colored wine offers, boysenberry and white pepper notes with hints of vanilla.

Palate

In the mouth, rich flavors of black cherry are enhanced by brown sugar and nutmeg. The bold fruit and subtle spice make for a fresh, balanced finish.

Growing Conditions

Howell Mountain is especially well suited to growing intensely flavored Zinfandel due to the combination of volcanic, iron laden soils and high elevation. The soils are especially lean which naturally limits the vigor of the grapevines, concentrating the flavors contributing to the intensity of the finished wine. The 2400 feet elevation impacts the microclimate of the site. Large swings between day and night temperatures allow for even ripening and maintaining a vibrant acidity in the grapes. The vines are approximately 37 years old which results in fruit with wonderful intensity of aroma and exceptional concentration of flavor.
