Nose

aromas of red cherry, cinnamon and wild berries.

Palate

On the palate, the flavors of raspberry coulis, red fruit and allspice create a silky mouthfeel. The Rockpile Zinfandel is balanced and well integrated with soft, velvety tannins.

Growing Conditions

Grapes from the Rockpile Appellation are one of the most sought after in California. The appellation is only 148 acres. Due to the limited availability of Rockpile fruit, only about 15 wineries produce wines from this appellation. The Rockpile Appellation is located in a very remote region at the very end of the Dry Creek Valley AVA overlooking Lake Sonoma. The elevation of Rockpile begins at 800 feet but most vineyards sit at over 1000 feet and up to nearly 2100 feet elevation.

Food Pairing

Our Rockpile Zinfandel pairs beautifully with many international cuisines and slightly spicy dishes such as Japanese Pork Katsu Curry. Zinfandel is the ideal wine to serve with burgers. Try a Kobe beef cheeseburger with smoked Gouda, caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms. Select cheese with bold flavors; Sonoma Dry Jack and Manchego are recommended.
