Palate

The 2010 Hyde Chardonnay captures the essence of the sea – briny, seasalt, mineral and fresh acidity in the moment of its ultimate concentration.

Growing Conditions

2010 was a cooler growing season, with meticulous attention in the vineyard we harvested incredibly impeccable, bright, brilliant translucent green fruit that captured what we love about Hyde…acid, mineral and verve!

Hyde vineyard is sustainably and organically farmed with respect for the environment, meaning the riperian growth of native trees along the creek provides a habitat for different birds, such as owls, kites and hawks and cover crops help with beneficial insect management, soil structure and vine nutrition. Summer temperatures are cool due to its proximity to San Pablo Bay, with foggy mornings and cool afternoon breezes. Under the soils, ancient creek beds provide excellent drainage to the red clay loam.

Winemaking

Native fermentation in mature French barrels, malolactic fermentation was inhibited.
