Nose

Groundswell aromatics of lychee, bright citrus, ginger, almond oil, chamomile, melon and honeysuckle balanced by a clean yeasty core of lemon drop and salinity, vivid, nuanced and impeccably polished. This is a beautiful wine with a Corton-Charlemagne-like nose of honeysuckle, tangerine oil, melon, white currants and a subtle almond-paste characteristic.

Palate

It is full-bodied, has great fruit, wonderful freshness, energy and a long, zesty finish. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.

Growing Conditions

A mineral-driven selection of ‘Old Wente’ clone from two of the best growing regions for Chardonnay: Durell Vineyard and Green Acres Vineyard. Each vineyard’s climate produces naturally low yielding, small tight clusters combined with the distinguished expansive clonal characteristics of Old Wente.

Winemaking

Whole cluster pressed, native primary fermentation with no malolactic fermentation.

Aging

Aged sur lie with batonnage in 30% new lightly toasted tight grain French oak with 75% aged in neutral French cooperage for one year.
