Nose

Opens with dark and layered notes of black current and wild blackberries, with intriguing elements of black cherry skin, graphite and savory tapenade.

Palate

Long barrel aging delivers a seamless and elegant palate that lingers with flavors of cocoa powder and roasted espresso. The firm and focused tannins on the back palate promise ageability of this wine for the next 15+ years.

Growing Conditions

We crafted our 2011 Réserve Spéciale from the finest vineyard sources in Sonoma County. The majority of the fruit came from the Sonoma Valley AVA, where low-yielding, rocky growing sites bring balance and elegance to this very complex wine. Smaller percentages of fruit from Knights Valley and Bennett Valley offer the wine a riper aromatic profile and fuller tannin profile.

Winemaking

Fermented in stainless still with 100% Malolactic fermentation.

Aging

Aged 24 months in 86% French oak, 14% American oak (28% new).
