Palate

The 2013 Réserve Spéciale presents with a nose of seductive dark fruit and aromas of blackberry, fresh fig and licorice, followed by fresh notes of dark cherry and violet as the wine opens. Framed by a firm structure and silky elegance, the lush texture is what truly defines the Réserve Spéciale.

Growing Conditions

Arrowood’s signature blend is sourced from the finest blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon from various vineyards in Sonoma County. The majority of the fruit came from the Sonoma Valley AVA, where low-yielding, rocky growing sites bring balance and elegance. Smaller percentages of fruit come from the Knights Valley AVA and offer darker aromatics and fuller tannin profile, ideal for aging.

Winemaking

Fermented in stainless steel, 100% ML, aged for 30 months in predominately French oak, and some American oak (46% new barrels, 54% seasoned). After 24 months, the wine was pulled out of barrel, blended and placed back into the original barrels for an additional 6 months of aging.

Aging

Long barrel aging and a year of bottle age prior to release ensure this wine is ready to drink now; however, those that hold onto it will be rewarded with an aging potential of 20+ years.
