Growing Conditions

For Amici the 2017 wine grape harvest will truly be remembered as a harvest of teamwork and dedication shown on all levels from our team, colleagues, friends and the first responders that saved our homes and livelihood.
The season began with above average rainfall that refilled reservoirs and replenished soils bringing new life to cover crops that had been parched over the past five years of draught. Heat spells impacted many vineyards throughout the season having above average growing days of over 95F. Harvest began early at a normal pace in many regions, and then progressed rapidly during a heat wave in late August and early September. The quality of the 2017 vintage is ever present and is producing wines of vibrancy, tenacity and character much like the traits needed by all who helped the wine industry through such a challenging end to the season.
