Growing Conditions

Oakwild Ranch Vineyard is located in the heart of the Russian River. Vines enjoy a cool morning fog that rises off the river followed by sunny, warm days and breezy afternoons. The combination of these factors allows the grapes to ripen at a slow, steady pace, which heightens the intensity and complexity of the fruit flavor.

2014 was an excellent vintage for Russian River Valley Pinot Noir the third consecutive such vintage, following the stunning successes of both 2012 and 2013. Despite a regional drought, significant rains in February and March gave the vineyards a healthy soaking, and set up the vines for early budbreak. Throughout the growing season the vines enjoyed warm days and cool nights, allowing a long, slow ripening that resulted in beautifully balanced wines with fully developed flavors and fresh acidity.

Winemaking

Made from grapes off the premier Oakwild Vineyard in Russian River Valley, the 2014 Amici Cellars Reserve Pinot Noir showcases the classic Russian River Valley characteristics of heady aromas, vibrant cherry and cranberry flavors and delicate tannins. A true beauty of a wine, it is delicious on release but will age well for 5-7 years.

Deep ruby in color, this wine opens with cranberry and cherry pie aromas and notes of vanilla, kola nut, and exotic spices, leading to ripe red fruits and a plush, well-structured palate. A long, lingering finish shows subtle hints of cardamom, clove, and forest floor.
