Nose

This luxurious Napa cab is lush and expressive on the nose, aromas of truffle, dark berries, and lavender jump out of the glass.

Palate

Rich and full-bodied on the palate, overflowing with juicy blackberry and black currant fruit. Earthy notes of tobacco and cedary oak lace a dark chocolate core.

Growing Conditions

We’re always on the search for new, interesting vineyards. While we went back to our favorite Howell Mountain spot (Beatty Ranch), we also hiked up the steep slopes of Calistoga to Montgomery Vineyards. Calistoga is known for its warm temperatures, volcanic soils, and excellent drainage. And 2012 was no different. Giving us grapes with high concentration, better acid retention, and optimal levels of balance and structure.

Winemaking

In Napa, cabernet is king. So it didn't come as a surprise to hear the Uproot faithful clamoring for more. But they didn't want just any old cabernet, they wanted the biggest, baddest cab in the Valley. At Uproot we said, "Bring it on!" and went on a hunt to find the best fruit in Napa. We crossed our fingers for the perfect weather. And we barreled this bad boy 8 months longer than ever before. What we got can only be described as our Pièce de Résistance. Oh, and did we mention we received a 90 point rating from Wine Spectator. Not too shabby for the new kids on the block.

Aging

30 months barrel aged. 65% New French Oak Barrels, 35% Neutral French Oak Barrels.
