Palate
Aromas of grapefruit, figs, apricot, candied lemon. The wine is all Sauvignon Blanc with
medium body, crisp acidity and nice balanced finish.
Growing Conditions
2019 started with ample rain which continued into early and late spring. Bud
break was within a couple days of historical average in May, shortly thereafter
we were hit with a heavy rain followed by very unstable weather for the next
three weeks. Luckily, Mary’s was able to make it through unaffected. A very mild
summer with ample heat allowed for consistent ripening and harvest in late
August and early September.
Harvest
This sustainably farmed estate vineyard sits on 34-acres in the Calistoga AVA
and has balanced vines, moderately fertile soils, and excellent sun exposure—
ideal conditions to grow Sauvignon Blanc with a vibrant character. Part of
the grape blend is pulled from the newer planting of Musqué Clone, adding
complexity to the final blend.
Winemaking
Grapes were harvested and immediately pressed to liberate the free fun juice.
The juice underwent a cold fermentation that lasted more than 20 days.
Aging
30% of the blend was aged on direct lees contact and stirred twice a week.
Appearance
This Sauvignon Blanc has brilliant clarity, beautiful yellow-green color.
