Palate

black currants, blackberry and black cherry are balanced with notes of cocoa, oak spice and cedar with finely grained tannins

Growing Conditions

Almost perfect. There’s really not much more to say about the 2012 growing season, which proceeded throughout Napa Valley in textbook fashion from budbreak to an on-time Fall harvest. Uneventful is a vineyard manager’s favorite word.

Aging

20 months in 80% new French Oak Chateau barrels, principally Taransaud, Demptos, Sylvain

Food Pairing

Grilled, charred medium rare beef, leafy earthy grains with roasted fennel and caramelized onion
