Nose

A wine filled with fresh grapefruit, kiwi, lemon zest and dried melon aromas with fennel pollen and subtle notes of toasty oak.

Palate

The palate is marked by pink grapefruit, ripe green apple, lime zest and white peach essence. It is structured and inviting, with a round, textured mouth feel from the oak barrel maturation and a creamy, layered texture. This Sauvignon Blanc is crisp yet rich with a satisfying lengthy finish.

Growing Conditions

The 2023 growing season was entirely about patience. A long, wet winter and spring filled our lakes and nourished the soils. With the cooler start to the season, budbreak was several weeks behind average. Once warm, mild weather conditions took over in the late spring and early summer, abundant shoot growth in May and June proceeded. Canopy management was vital to veraison, which occurred in mid to late July. While the first sauvignon blanc fruit was picked on August 16th, over the course of the following month, mild warm temperatures created perfect conditions for managed picking decisions. The longer hang time allowed the fruit to catch optimum ripening, creating a superb vintage with bright, fresh white wines that show varietal flavors and textures.

Winemaking

After achieving the desired flavors on the vine, the Sauvignon Blanc was harvested in the cool morning hours in an effort to preserve the delicate flavors. Once in the cellar, grapes were pressed to tank and immediately chilled and settled. Fermentation occurred in both stainless steel tanks and new French oak barrels at cool temperatures to maintain and enhance the natural flavors. The final blend was completed after 5 months of sur-lies maturation to capture the lovely fresh qualities and intensity of flavor in the Sauvignon Blanc.
